Today is my lucky day

Earlier this week I blogged about losing my belly ring at the miami marathon. Well I decided to contact the company because I was so disappointed that the ring fell out less than 24 hours after getting it. The girl from the company was so super nice. Not only did she offer to replace the ring, she sent me a "surprise" with it. So I was thinking maybe an extra charm or a coupon for my next purchase. NOPE!! She sent me one of their brand new items, a 26.2 charm necklace. It is so SUPER cute and they were selling for like 25 bucks at the show. I feel so lucky, like I just won the lottery or something. So, I highly recommend this company for all your cute running gear! My friend's belly ring had broken also and she replaced her ring too. They definitely stand behind their product. Friday the 13th

Well, i got a phone call today from my wonderful friends at wheel of fortune (actually...wheel of non-fortune)!!! Looks like my show will be airing on Friday, March 13th. I just thought that was perfect. It will match perfectly with my winnings. Planning on having a "party" for the show. I figured I wanted to be with friends for some moral support! And when you see the first puzzle, I want to be around to hear everyone call out the same answer I called "Family...."

Yet another run...

I know I have officially lost my mind...I just finished another race. It was "just" a half marathon that felt like an ultra (running term for a VERY long race)!!! Yesterday, Mary, my mom and I headed down south for a fun weekend in Miami. It was the race of lost or forgotten items. It started with Mary forgetting her fav black jeans for dinner. Then, when we finally got to Miami my mom somehow lost her camera at the Expo (that is why there are NO pics for this trip). After a crazy afternoon looking for the camera, finding new jeans for Mary (by the way if you are in Miami you have to check out Lincoln Street, so many cute shops) we met up with Jo-Anne and Roy for dinner. We met up with them at a very hip restaurant called Michy's. Roy saw the restaurant on the food channel. Lets just say I felt like I was on a taping of Top Chef. It was awesome. I think it was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had!!! Thanks Roy and Jo-Anne!

Race Day:
This morning we woke up to run yet another crazy race. Yup, 4 am and we were up and getting ready to go to the start.

When we got downtown, we walked to start through people's "bedrooms." I was amazed to see so many homeless men lining the streets of downtown Miami. What I did not realize it that 3 hours later, they would still be in their "rooms." It just broke my heart to see the joy in their eyes when we handed them fig newtons and bananas. Man do I feel so blessed to have a place to call home.

As for the race itself...well to make a long story short, the race was TOUGH. I guess my legs have not recovered 100% since Disney. The course was beautiful and I did get a way cool medal :) After the race I realized that my brand new 26.2 belly button ring fell out while I was running. LOST #3!!! ERRR....

Overall, I had a great time. It is so great to work all week and spend my weekends running with some of my best friends. Thanks Girls for a great time!!!!

It's Friday!

I have a had a crazy week and I am so happy that it is finally Friday. I spent my Friday doing my most favorite thing....eating the veggie salad at California Pizza Kitchen. Yummm.....i suggest if you have not tried that salad you should check it out sometime!!
I am also so excited that Victoria Secret is opening at Waterford Lakes. I know, I have no life, but I am thrilled :) Anyways, I hope everyone has a great weekend. I plan on resting and getting my voice back!

Only 48 hours after my marathon I buckled under pressure...LOL!!! I signed up for GOOFY next year. I thought, "hey why not." I ran 26 why not do 13 the day before...hmmm...even as I write that I think how crazy it sounds. So my challenge to all my friends...why not run the 1/2 marathon on Saturday with me. That gives you 1 year to train. It is SO possible to each and every person. Whether you run, walk, jog or waddle...you can make it!!! It is just so amazing how our bodies are made. The pain I felt on Sunday is so far forgotten. I can walk without hurting and plan on trying a little walk jog tomorrow. Anyways, thank you again for all the support and prayers. Just think, next year Disney can be Magical for you too!!!!

I did it!!!

That's right...I completed my first marathon. Yesterday I completed the Disney Marathon with some of my closet friends. I have to admit that the moments gearing up to the race were more stressful than the race itself. It started Saturday night when I slept maybe 2 hours. The rest of the night I had convinced myself that I was getting a cold and I would not be able to run. It is amazing how your mind plays tricks on you. Well, then it was the morning of the race. I got dressed, and began the journey to the end

Then, I headed to the race start with my mom. My mom was meeting some friends by the stage and then I was going to go and meet my friends at the corral.

Let me tell you for someone that gets stressed very easily I was SO nervous I would not find them. So, i borrowed the balloon from my mom's group and began my journey (mile 1) to the start. On my way i decided I would use the restroom. Well, if you know me well, you know that i do NOT do well with port-o-lets. YUCK! Well, this was the first time during the marathon that God showed up (well He was there the whole time but this is where I knew he was slapping me in the face). There, like a mirage, was a port-o-let that was facing the wrong way. Not only was it facing the wrong way, it only had 2 people in line (verses thousands deep on the other side). It was such a God thing. No line, clean port-o-let, you get the idea. Whew!

After that, I went to corral C and waited like a lost puppy for my friends (with a smiley balloon). Well, they FOUND me!!!! God sighting number 2 - right after they found me, my balloon broke and flew away (it was like God saying...I've got you covered).

5:50 - Fireworks go off and we began the journey. I must say it was an amazing journey. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends. We all stayed together for the first 20 miles of the run. At mile 20, we stopped to get water and did not see one of my friends so we assumed that she had gone ahead. Unfortunately she had stopped for the restroom and we lost each other. For mile 20-26 I ran with Mary and Nicole. Thanks girls, you two were an awesome motivation!!! They were so positive. I must say, at around mile 24 I thought it was never going to end. The last five miles is definitely a mind game! However, at 4 hours 31 minutes and 59 seconds, Mary, Nicole and I ran through the finish line and I accomplished a task that I thought was not possible. There sitting in the stands was the rest of Team Scott (thanks for coming out). As I was walking to get my medal, my sister (love you Trish), my aunt and my uncle were waiting It was so great to see so many familiar faces. I must say, it is amazing how God makes our bodies and how far we can push them. And if you think that is awesome, my mom FINISHED 2 hours later. That comes to show that you can pick up running at any age.

Well, just when you thought that was the end. The story could not be complete with a little medical attention. I guess I should be completely honest...When I finished I felt AWFUL. Legs= pretty good, stomach=not so good! Nauseous, headache, yucky, etc. So as I waited for my mom I progressively felt worse. So after watching my mom cross the finish line I decided that I better go to the medical tent. I was so SICK! Diagnosis: Dehydration! After being poked and prodded, the doctors determined that my pulse was too fast and too weak to let me go. I was put in the "critical" section, given a pill for my nausea and then I had to down a whole bottle of GROSS Powerade. After about 10 minutes I was able to go! Anyways overall experience...I will just say..."See you at Goofy next year!!!!"

36 hours and counting

Well the time is approaching. In less than 36 hours I will be at the start of my first marathon. I know to all the other marathoners this is probably no big deal. But, since it is my first I must admit I am pretty nervous. I do not doubt that I will finish, I just worry that I will have some weird belly ache or pain causing me to not do my best :) The festivities began yesterday when I went to the expo with my mom. It is a good thing that we went yesterday because we shopped til we dropped. We each took a picture with the "running people" at the expo. About 10 years ago, my sister took the same picture at her first marathon!!! (We are going to miss you Trish).

Tomorrow I will be heading to the hotel with my mom and then meeting my running friends for dinner. Hopefully my next blog will be good news of my finish...haha!!!!

Digital Converter Box

Yes, it has happened. After 5 years, Rodney and I no longer have rabbit ears on our tv. We have moved somewhat into the 21st century with a digital converter box. We can now see like 20 channels including good old channel 2 (which we could not get before). This is all so exciting in the Sahr household. Here is a picture of Bean watching our new TV...lol!!!

Vegetarian Eats Out

So the other night, I went to eat at a friend of Rodney's house. Rodney is a big time fisherman so I knew that we would be eating some seafood at the dinner. Even though I am a vegetarian, I do eat seafood. I also knew that Rodney's buddy liked to hunt. What I did not know was that he LOVED to hunt. I walk into his house and what do I see lots of dead animals mounted in every room. (See pictures below). I think there was a total of 15 or so deer, a 12 1/2 foot alligator, a New Zealand Tar, coyote skin, stuffed turkey, etc. I was horrified. Rodney just looked at me and said "Perfect place for a vegetarian to eat". It was so funny. Of course, the meal included fried gator, prime rib, deer fillets wrapped in bacon, shrimp and fish. Overall I had a great time (as long as I sat outside to eat dinner). Rodney's friend grilled me a piece of fresh caught fish. I just had to write this blog because I thought the whole thing was so funny!!! Check out the poor animals below :)

Happy New Year!

Hey everyone! The new year is in full swing and I am getting ready to go back to work. I am looking forward to new adventures this year. Above is a picture of my mom and me before we went to Wheel of Fortune. Look for us on March 9th. Although we might not be the big winners I feel so blessed to have been able to be on the show and I got to meet two really awesome new friends!!!! I am excited to see the plans that God has for me and my family this year.

I also wanted to let everyone know that my young marrieds group is starting a new lesson tomorrow night and then we will be watching the Ohio State game. Let me know if you are interested in coming!!!

My First Blog...

Hey! This is my first blog ever. I am so excited to be a part of the blogging community. I feel so blessed to have met some new friends that have introduced me to this fun way to communicate. I am also looking forward to reading what everyone else has been up to. I am currently at home preparing my lesson plans for next week. The two week Christmas break has gone by so fast and it is almost time to go back to work. I am also preparing for my FIRST marathon!!! I will be running the Disney Marathon next Sunday.
